This project intends to take typically found footage elements and toy with them as a form of nested diegesis within the context of a crime drama.
The narrative centres around a Detective Inspector named Josiah Morris as he works an intriguing new case. An unknown killer is targeting their victims seemingly at random; the only thread tying them together is the ominous footage taken from their own phones by the killer. The footage is used taunt Josiah as he tries to solve the case, while also coming to terms with strained personal relationships.
The case escalates in intensity as Josiah soon gets this footage sent to him directly, testing his resolve for both the case and his personal life. This pilot is set in present-day Wellington sets a modern context in which the ‘found footage elements” can be tested from modern technology that contemporary audiences can connect with.
