Whakapapa is central to my ideas and the contemporary materials I use. My research draws from the rich body of knowledge found in creation narratives which relate to kauri and the experiences of ancestors where kauri was a central part of their lives. My sculptures emerge as abstract interpretations of this knowledge, contemplated through material experimentation.
