Designed in collaboration with Te Āti Awa Mana Whenua design team lead by Len Hetet.
Te Āti Awa Taranaki Whānui of many phenomena. A ripple in the great waterway or small tributaries. A guardian of the land.
The design has an integrated lighting system that is powered by wave energy from the sea, 10 metres away, highlighting the cultural elements of the park and referencing connection to sea supporting with renewable energy values, inspired by values of Wairua and Kaitiakitanga.

This project is about collaboration across cultures in order to co create an Aotearoa, New Zealand for the benefit of all that live within this land.

The design seeks to reference narratives and design principles important to the mana whenua and relevant to the park. Representing living relationships across elements of significance including Ngake and Whātaitai, fluidity and principles such as Tuhono, Manakitanga. A ripple in the great waterway, or small tributaries, a guardian of the land.
A connector of people, environment, culture, and the great harbour of Wellington, Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
