Josiah Nevell

Choosing Love is a short film born out of the desire to see a more realistic and ultimately fulfilling view of love out there in the world. This is a film I made entirely by myself, doing 5 interviews with 5 couples, filming at their homes, going on walks, camera in hand. I wanted to make a film that told a story I was really passionate about, and also make something I was proud of. From the colour grade to the handheld look, the bloom filters, to the music, I wanted to make a film that told a story not only in its script but in its aesthetic. Throughout the process I had to learn how to do everything alone including things like audio, eq-ing voices, automation, and other things like how to conduct an interview and be a good listener. I'm stoked to present something I'm proud of and am looking forward to continuing my journey as a film maker and photographer.
