This interior architectural project focuses on a dementia unit located in a Wellington retirement care home. It aims to improve the current facilities and patient care, as well as the visitor experience by applying spatial strategies specifically set out for dementia residents. By investigating appropriate materials, furnishings, colours, and narrative-based navigation tools, this project seeks to enhance the sense of familiar and home to increase the residents’ spatial orientation, safety and independence.
