In The Lap' has a unique interface for the two user groups. The design prioritizes usability- focusing on visual accessibility and familiar patterns.
Grandparents and grandchildren can build their own personalised library of digitised storybooks, by scanning in the spreads.
By providing a low-friction e-reading experience, long distance relatives can re-create the feeling of reading a bedtime story in grandma's lap.

Bachelor of Design with Honours

To address a lack of communication options for long-distance relatives in the digital age, In The Lap is an intergenerational platform that facilitates virtual connection over bedtime stories. It provides grandparents and grandchildren with a collaborative online library, utilising existing tablet functionality to digitise storybooks. Users can set a mutual storytime and read live together, or follow along later to recordings of live sessions, anywhere, anytime.
