On set of Hooked
Bachelor of Creative Media Production
I was excited to step into the role of producer for two films: Take Them Swimming and Hooked.
Take Them Swimming is a short film giving insight into the trials and tribulations of navigating change as a young woman in the modern world. In this funny and exhausting adventure, Tilly finds herself evaluating what is really important to her, and how she can fulfil herself amidst flights, fights, feelings, and... catfish. Take Them Swimming is a passionate female lead production, with an important message around what it means to be a young woman today.
Hooked aimed to tackle a heavy subject while also keeping it comedic and colourful. Hooked is a coming of age story that is nestled and wrapped in a dramatic and inspirational journey of one young man's mission to find respect. The themes of false masculinity, validation, and respect throughout our film are a reflection of the pressures placed upon young Kiwi males by unrealistic representations of male stereotypes shown in the media.
I was excited to be the producer and I really enjoyed my time and gained lots of new skills. We are excited to show our hard work and further our careers as filmmakers.
