Memory in Making explores different ways to utilise memories, nostalgic storytelling and reminiscing in the design and making process in the hopes of facilitating emotional attachment to products and breaking down barriers between designers, makers and users. This rug is a case study for this process, created by exploring and recreating the sensory aspects of a childhood memory.
Memory in Making is presented as part of Enriching Material Encounters, a joint exhibition that asks 'How can design facilitate emotional attachment between people and objects?' Exploring the topic of emotional attachment in design, these four graduate designers have addressed different aspects, categories and forms according to their unique specialties and interests, resulting in four individual projects.
